Neff rolled the dice with an attack that landed him in second, but his gap over the group was quickly cutoff. He was able to fight off the rest of the group near the barriers at the last quarter of the lap, enough to give him the edge to the final corner and lead out the sprint over Uhl. Meanwhile, the Texan cornered wide on the last turn, and Allen pounced on the mistake, which was enough to steal away third place in the final race to the line.

Tech notes: Both 2015 Singlespeed Cyclocross National Champions Mo Bruno Roy and Justin Lindine used SRAM CX1 wide/narrow chainrings and TRP RevoX carbon cantilever brakes. Bruno Roy pedaled a 38×18 gear, and Justin Lindine pedaled a 40×17. Both didn’t cite chain drop problems as reason to use the wide/narrow chainring, and Lindine said he just had it around, but both were pleased with its performance and didn’t notice any added friction.
