USA Cycling announced the names of the 16 cyclists that will be representing the United States at the 2023 UCI Cyclocross World Championships. The race will take place in Hoogerheide, Netherlands.

The team included National Champions like Clara Honsinger (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB), Curtis White (Steve Tilford Foundation Racing), Madigan Munro (Trek Factory Racing), Andrew Strohmeyer (CX Hairs Devo), Kaya Musgrave (Bear National Team), and Andrew August (FinKraft Junior Cycling Team).

Pan American Continental Champions like Raylyn Nuss (Steve Tilford Foundation Racing), Lizzy Gunsalus (Steve Tilford Foundation Racing), Jack Spranger (Bear National Team), and David Thompson (FinKraft Junior Cycling Team) have also joined the roster.

The team, at just 16 riders, represents a contraction from years past. In 2019, the USA Cycling Cyclocross Worlds team, was 27 riders strong, and that was with one fewer titles on the line.

Here are the returning cyclists from the 2022 Worlds team last season and how they did in the 2022 UCI Cyclocross World Championship.

Elite Women: Clara Honsinger finished 11th and Raylyn Nuss finished in 15th.

Elite Men: Curtis White finished in 12th place.

U23 Women: Madigan Munro came in 8th and Lizzy Gunsalus finished in 12th.

“USA Cycling has a strong team heading to Hoogerheide in a few weeks. The team just finished three weeks of racing in Belgium where they experienced European racing and sharpened their skills ahead of the World Championships. The development team, support by the MudFund, had two podiums in the junior races and are well-prepared for the lead into the World Championships including the final World Cup in France before we head to Hoogerheide.” said USA Cycling’s Mountain Bike and Cyclocross Director, Jesse Anthony.

Elite Men’s Pan American Champion Eric Brunner (Boulder, Colo.; Blue-Stages Racing) and Jack Spranger (Sammamish, Wash.; Bear National Team) were selected to the team, but declined their nominations.
