Francis Mourey continued his strong season with another UCI cyclocross win in Luxembourg. The Frenchman led a French podium sweep, and took nearly two minutes out of second-place Steve Chainel, with Nicholas Bazin in third. American Davy Yeater contested the race, finishing in 33rd.

On the women’s side, Marianne Vos showed her cyclocross form is rapidly progressing, with a dominant win over Hanka Kupfernagel. After just out-kicking the former German World Champion in Loenhout, Vos beat the German by 1:17 today. Vos has shown she may have the speed and skills again to be Katie Compton’s top threat at Worlds, and she aims to defend her title and keep the long-sought rainbow stripes from the American when the World Championships come to St. Wendel, Germany.

American Amy Dombroski kicked off the new year for her new Crank Brothers team with an eighth place, with Mo Bruno Roy (Bob’s Red Mill) just behind in ninth. Cyclocross Magazine contributor Christine Vardaros (Bobaco)  had a rough outing with a 14th place finish, suffering from recent crashes, and said “debilitating back pain combined with jagged pain in my hip with every pedal stroke” made racing difficult.
