Round #4 of the Bikereg.com Super 8 Series, DCCX Was this past Sunday and it delivered as promised. Over 900 riders showed up for the only Cyclocross race within the Nation’s Capital. In the Women’s Elite it was Laura Van Gilder, who landed the two-peat on Sunday as she won DCCX for the second year in a row. Van Gilder and Arley Kemmerer broke away early, but Van Guilder proved to be too fast to tame and pressed open a winning gap.

In the Men’s Elite, Series Leader Stephen Cummings pulled the holeshot and the early lead, but it turned out to be the SEAVS/ Haymarket Trip of Ryan Dewald, Weston Schempf and Jared Nieters who went home the big winners on the day. Dewald broke away early and never looked back. Eventually Schempf, Nieters and Waite bridged up, but the finish came down to a three-up sprint between the SEAVS/Haymarket teammates with Dewald claiming the top spot followed by Schempf in second and Nieters in third.
