Some things never change. For today’s TBT video, we have a short highlight edit of the 1965 Cyclocross National Championships in Belgium, and just like modern-day Belgian cyclocross, the races were muddy, treacherous affairs, albeit with skinnier tires.

There’s also a helpful lesson here. There are some dangers to running down a slippery hill with your bike on your shoulder (and thus, on your back). Should you fall backwards, that pedal may not be so comfortable. Running next to it, and using it for balance, might be safer.

We’re sure that’s what this one guy wishes he did. Instead, he suffered from a rare form of “cross back.”
