In the heart of cyclocross season, it is hard to remember that there are different forms of cycling going on, but Jayson O’Mahoney, also known as the Gravel Cyclist, is quick to point out that the early Fall is also a key time for adventure races.

Earlier this month, O’Mahoney participated in Iron Cross XII, an event loaded with hecklers, horns, and hand-ups, where riders traverse 35 or 70 miles of gravel terrain.

We were also interested in the race he pointed us to called the Savage CX, which starts on what looks to be a standard cyclocross course that decides to make a left turn out of nowhere and throw riders in the North Carolina wilderness. For the adventure racers out there, the Gravel Cyclist made a few videos to encourage a few of these races to go on a bucket list.
