Clément CX Announces New Cyclocross Program
Donnelly Sports is proud to announce the formation of Clément CX. Its initial rider is a young, up-and-coming American, David Hackworthy – 2009 U23 USGP Series Champion and 2010 USA U23 Worlds Team Member. “I have personally been keeping my eye on David for the last two years and strongly believe he is going to be a great talent. David is a very professional and personable young man and is a superb ambassador for our sport and the Clément brand,” states Donn Kellogg, general manager of Donnelly Sports, new licensee of the iconic brand.
“When Donn approached me in April about their plans for cyclocross, I expressed an interested. But when they presented their program, I was 100 percent in,” says David Hackworthy. “I have witnessed Donn in action at the USGP events for the last few years and know I can count on a complete support system at the event, which is critical at a cyclocross race. I am proud to be part of such a historic and iconic brand as Clément, and to be the first new rider in a long history of great riders on these tires; it is truly an honor.”
Mr. Kellogg further explains, “Our approach to sponsorship is a bit more involved than most. We have partnered not only with the industry leaders such as Shimano and Ridley bicycles, but we are also going the extra step to surround our rider, David Hackworthy, with the very best in terms of coaching, physiologists and mentoring programs through a close collaboration with Frank Overton at FasCat Coaching and Brandon Dwight at Boulder Cycle Sport. We will do the same for our future riders. To build a world-class program, it is necessary to make sure that the program is operating in a 360-degree manner. Our aim is to build our international cyclocross program in a very comprehensive, cohesive and correct way. So, as you can imagine, this is an exciting first step to the long term goal of Clément’s sponsorship in the world.”
Clément’s history and experience in cyclocross is one of the oldest in sport. The brand is famously known for its innovated cyclocross designs decades ago and has recently introduced completely new, modern and professionally-tested cyclocross tread designs, the Clément Crusade PDX and LAS tires.
Last year Donnelly Sports entered into a licensing agreement with Pirelli Tyre SpA, owner of the Clement brand, for the purpose of re-energizing the brand with new designs, product innovations and providing a drive and passion for the Clément brand as it so richly deserves.
