After a rough start to the 2016-2017 season, Sanne Cant (IKO Enertherm-Beobank) had been the most consistent rider on the Women’s European circuit. But then seven-time World Champion Marianne Vos made her return to the scene. Thursday at Azencross IJsboerke Ladies Trophy race in Loenhout, Belgium Cant sent a reminder that she is still a force to be reckoned with. Cant took control midway through the race after a fast start from Vos’ Rabobank Liv teammate Lucinda Brand and rode a technically-perfect race on a slick and foggy afternoon in Loenhout to take her third career victory at the event.

Marianne Vos (Rabobank Liv) had a slow start, but eventually worked her way back to pick off teammate Thalita de Jong (Rabobank Liv) in a sprint at the finish for second. De Jong finished third, Laura Verdonshot (Marlux Napoleon-Games) fourth, and Lucinda Brand (Rabobank Liv) fifth.
