The Reno Wheelmen are putting the final details into place for this year’s Northern California-Nevada (NCNCA) Cyclocross Championships, which will be held at Clayton Middle School in Reno, Nev. Predictions call for cool temperatures and wet weather for Saturday, giving Northern California riders a little taste of what is to come next month at Nationals in Bend, Ore. The district championship festivities begin at 6 p.m. Friday night at the Silver Legacy Casino with early registration, saving racers $10, and a pre-race CarbFest Dinner being hosted by the Silver Legacy with a chance to win a set of Mavic Wheels. Racers can receive a discounted room rate when they mention the code “TTCYCLO”.The Clayton Middle School course is a fast, flowing course with a variety of different surfaces that will challenge riders of all levels. It is also ideal for spectators as its stepped fields offer views of the entire course as well as some scenic Nevada landscapes. Racing starts early with the men’s C/Cat 4 race that will be nicely complimented by a free pancake breakfast supplied by Sagebrush Cyclocross Series sponsor Team Bootleg/Reno Bike Project. Northern California/Nevada is a hot bed of cycling and this year won’t disappoint with the area’s top teams coming to battle for the title of District Champion.
