The HG Cross series continued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Heerderstrand in Heerde, Netherlands. The course is built around the sandy lakeshore that gives the race its name, where stretches of coarse sand interrupt the rhythm, force riders to run, and reward clean remounts and short, hard accelerations on the firmer ground in between.
Heerde was the third HG Cross round of the autumn, following Round One in Dendermonde on October 11 and Round Two, the HG Cross Berencross in Meulebeke on October 17. Both Elite races crowned a winner who had not won either of the opening rounds, and the full Elite Women and Elite Men results are below.
Elite Women’s Race
Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado won the Elite Women’s race at the Heerderstrand, finishing in 46:52. Denise Betsema took second and Aniek van Alphen third, both timed at 47:02, and Manon Bakker followed in fourth in 47:08. Fem van Empel, who won at Heerde in 2025, placed fifth in 48:10 to complete an all-Dutch top five. Fourth place marked Bakker’s return to European racing after a dominant campaign in the United States, where her wins included Kings CX Day One in Ohio a week earlier.
The result made it three different Elite Women’s winners in the three HG Cross rounds held so far this season. Lucinda Brand won the opening round in Dendermonde, and Marie Schreiber won the Berencross in Meulebeke, before Alvarado’s victory at Heerde.
Two American riders competed in the Elite Women’s race. Mia Aseltine finished 16th in 50:56, and Kaya Musgrave finished 23rd in 52:04.

Elite Men’s Race
Joran Wyseure won the Elite Men’s race at the Heerderstrand, covering the course in 1:00:05. Defending champion Joris Nieuwenhuis finished second, seven seconds behind the winner, while Niels Vandeputte placed third in 1:00:21. Felipe Orts Lloret rode to fourth place, and Giel Lejeune completed the top five.
Wyseure’s win broke the pattern of the first two HG Cross rounds. Michael Vanthourenhout won the Elite Men’s races in both Dendermonde and Meulebeke, but the Heerde race produced a new winner at the front. No American or Canadian riders competed in the Elite Men’s race.
