Crystal Anthony (Optum p/b Kelly Benefit) was able to use her recent experience of the deep mud in Europe to propel herself to a big win today at the surprisingly muddy Resolution Cross Cup in Garland, Texas, just outside Dallas. This is her second UCI win of the season, the first coming at NBX, where in the same situation, she was fresh off the European racing scene.

Of the four World Cup stages Anthony was present form she consistently finished in the top 25. She finished ahead of Amanda Miller (Boulder Cycle Sport/YogaGlo), who with the second place on the day now has stood on the podium at six straight races (five UCI, one Colorado State Championship).

Mo Bruno Roy took third, coming off two victories at the unsanctioned and popular Ice Weasels race, both in the Single Speed and Elite Women categories. This is her fourth trip to a UCI podium this season.

In the Men’s Elite Race, a deeper field made the early trip to Texas than what we saw in the women’s race, with Zach McDonald, Ryan Trebon, Justin Lindine, Allen Krughoff, Dan Timmerman, Jamey Driscoll and Jerome Townsend all lining hope with hopes of a confidence-building win leading into Nationals.

In the end, course conditions created large time gaps, and entering the last lap, McDonald, Lindine and Timmermand were the three left with hope of taking the win.

McDonald, racing in front of his Texas-based sponsors, escaped a surging Lindine for his first UCI win of the season (although he also scored the record payout for his win at the unsanctioned Subaru STARCROSSED earlier in September). He couldn’t have taken a more opposite approach than Anthony coming into this race. With the exception of the CXLA race, ever since he suddenly switched to racing for Cyclocross Project 2015 after a brief stint with KCCX, he has mainly ridden in local Texas races, where he found lots of success.

Justin Lindine (Redline) followed McDonald after a blazing fast last lap surge propelled him to second place and dropped a fading Timmerman.

Although Lindine is a well-known racer, last year, he surprised many with an eighth place finish in the Elite Men’s race at the 2014 Cyclocross National Championships after winning the Masters 30-34 Men, and looks to be coming into this year in Austin looking to exceed his past results. Dan Timmerman (House Industries/SimpleHuman/Richard Sachs)  rounded out the podium in Dallas.
