Nys may not have been able to take the World Championship title, but today at Parkcross Maldegem, he showed that he’s more than capable of taking a definitive win, soloing to the finish 12 seconds ahead of second place.

He was followed by Tom Meeusen and Niels Albert. Despite the season presumably being at a close after Worlds, and the Sunweb-Napoleon Games team not attending the event due to a dispute with the promoter, the field was still star-studded, as Lars Van der Haar took fourth, and new U23 World Champion Wout Van Aert took an impressive ninth with fellow U23 racer Sweeck just behind.

Jeremy Powers, the only American who took to the start line, took 13th.
