Retired cyclocross racer and Sporza commentator Paul Herygers was a sand specialist in his day, winning the World Championships in Koksijde in 1994.
Herygers recently showed that riding in sand is not all that different than riding a bicycle—he didn’t forget how after all these years. However, he also demonstrated that it’s a special skill that not just anyone can master on his first try.
Club Brugge soccer stars Timmy Simons and Ruud Vormer joined Herygers for a ride in the dunes of Koksijde on the new World Cup course prior to Sunday’s races, and the result was some trials, tribulations, laughter and soft landings. Have a watch below.
