While racers from around the world were converging in Yanqing Country outside of Beijing, China to start their cyclocross season on August 30, many Australian cyclocross racers, at least those not in racing in China, were racing their final race of the season that weekend in Adelaide, Australia at the Port Adelaide Cycling Club (PACC) Crossfire Cup Round #4. The venue? Potting Mix Park, which based on the name, promises to serve up a rich dirt experience to all participants.

The women’s race was won by Jenny Macpherson (St Kilda CC), who won all four races to take the series title. The men’s race was dominated by Russell Van Hout (Adelaide CC), who held off eventual series winner Jade Lean (Port Adelaide CC). Typical contender Chris Jongewaard (Norwood CC) was off racing the Qiansen Trophy race in China, where he would finish 56th.

Sam Bruce brought out the crosscopter, POV cameras and video cameras to capture the day’s racing, and sent us this compilation video for your enjoyment. Looks like the Crossfire Cup offers some tight racing, challenging features and fun times. Perhaps cyclocross in the Southern Hemisphere isn’t much different than ’cross in Europe or the States after all? Enjoy Bruce’s video below.
