After a hot and dusty start to the US Cup-CX series, Saturday’s Cincinnati Cyclocross course at Devou Park finally brought muddy cyclocross conditions to the new seven-race series. Stephen Hyde (Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com) came into Cincinnati in second place in the US Cup-CX standings and was looking to make his move closer to the $10,000 prize.
Hyde did so in a big way on Saturday, taking the win at Cincy and taking over first place in the series standings.
After dominating the first two weekends of the series, Tobin Ortenblad (Santa Cruz / Donkey Label Racing) took a tough 14th-place finish and lost his hold on first.
The Aspire Racing duo of Spencer Petrov and Jeremy Powers took second and third, with Petrov finishing over a minute behind Hyde.
