The 2020 Sea Otter Classic, after canceling its April date due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), has just announced it will move the whole event to early October.

Interestingly, the event will overlap with Trek’s World Cup Waterloo, the first stop of the new, expanded 2020-2021 UCI Cyclocross World Cup.

Although the event did not share the April cancellation on Twitter, it has now announced its new date:

With the event almost six months later than planned, we’ll be curious to see if many vendors sit on the sidelines and wait for 2021, or seize the chance for an autumn event now that Interbike is gone. We’re also curious to see how the mountain, gravel and road events’ attendance will be impacted due to the #crossishere scheduling.

Could we see a return of cyclocross racing at Sea Otter?

The full announcement from Sea Otter is below.

The new dates for the 2020 Sea Otter Classic will be October 1- 4, 2020.

Other than the date changes, the location and racing schedules for Sea Otter will remain essentially the same. Modifications and updates will be posted on our FAQ page.

All race registrations, camping reservations, festival purchases, and so forth will be shifted to the October dates. If you are unable to attend that event, check the FAQ page for details regarding refunds and rollovers.

Based on many discussions we’ve had with our supporters, we expect the October Sea Otter Classic to be a huge success. We look forward to seeing you then.
