If you want to be cliche about Saturday’s Elite Women’s Telenet UCI Cyclocross World Cup Tabor, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Corendon – Circus) ripped out to an early lead with an 11-second gap on the field after 1 lap, but Annemarie Worst (777) kept her in check and tracked her down in Lap 2 to make it a double-Dutch battle of 2.
Worst then attacked in the second half of the last lap to get a winning gap and take her second-straight World Cup win. Alvarado finished second and new Euro Champ Yara Kastelijn (777) took third.
Lucinda Brand (Telenet Baloise Lions) charged up from her 4th-row start to finish just 3 seconds behind Kastelijn in 4th.
Kaitie Keough (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) finished 8th, Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek Knight) 13th, Caroline Mani (Pactimo / Colorado Proud) 14th, Maghalie Rochette (Specialized x Feedback Sports) 16th, Katerina Nash (Clif Pro Team) 18th, Anna Megale (Trek Cyclocross Collective) 44th, Corey Coogan Cisek (CCC Racing) 45th and Rebecca Gross (Zero D Racing) 49th.
