Toon Aerts (Telenet Fidea Lions) started the season on a strong note with two wins at the U.S. World Cups, but after returning to Europe he has frequently found himself third to Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus) and Wout van Aert (Cibel – Cebon Offroad Team).

On Sunday at Belgian Nationals in Kruibeke, Aerts was back on top with his first career Elite Belgian National Championship.

Van Aert finished second and Michael Vanthourenhout took third.
