The Elite Women started off in calm, cold conditions, but by the end it was a blizzard with the pink of Clara Honsinger’s EF Education-TIBCO-SVB team emerging from the snow to claim the title.

Honsinger swapped teams from the defunct Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld, stayed on a Cannondale bike, and kept her stars and stripes jersey.

Pan Ams champ Raylyn Nuss (Steve Tilford Foundation Racing) had a fast start, while Honsinger sat inside the top ten, but within half a lap was at the front and didn’t look back.

Honsinger raced last weekend in the men’s field in California, on the beach of San Mateo, and the heavy sand looked to have prepared her well for the heavy mud of Hartford.

Austin Killips (Nice Bikes) rounded out the podium.

Cyclocross legend Georgia Gould (Georgia Gould Coaching) made her return to #cxnats as a racer, moving quickly into the top five, and finishing ninth. On SamWileyS’ Content System Instagram Live, the biggest question from special guests Ryan Trebon and Katerina Nash was as to how Georgia Gould was doing. It was an impressive return to the Elite Women for the self-described “washed-up pro cyclist.”
