New Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld signee Ryan Trebon received his custom-made cantilever brake-equipped Cannondale SuperX carbon cyclocross bikes a month ago, but had his first chance to race them to glory just this Tuesday at the Raleigh Midsummer Night Cyclocross race in Deer Valley, Utah. He seized that opportunity to land his first cyclocross victory aboard his carbon fiber 2013 Cannondale SuperX cyclocross bike.

Cyclocross Magazine took a quick look at the giant SuperX bike that was custom-made by Cannondale for the 6′ 5″ tall rider.  Trebon has kept many of the same equipment sponsors as last year, including Zipp 303 wheels, SRAM Red drivetrain, Avid Shorty Ultimate brakes, Clement tires, and a Zipp Service Course handlebar and stem from his Felt F1x of last season. Since Cannondale’s stock sizing doesn’t accommodate a rider of his height, Trebon had Cannondale build several custom-made SuperX frames for this season, but it was an easy process as he had a lot of input in the geometry of his previous Kona and Felt carbon fiber frames, and much of the geometry carried over. Trebon will have both cantilever and disc brake SuperX frames this season, but his disc brake models haven’t arrived yet. Trebon says he’ll likely be riding disc brakes most of this season.

Trebon opts for the Shimano XTR M970 pedals, and a long, titanium bolt-equipped Truvativ Stylo T40 400mm seatpost to accommodate his huge inseam and 930mm seat height. At the Raleigh Midsummer Night race, Trebon opted for Clement’s PDX tubulars, pumped up higher than normal due to the many rocks found on the Deer Valley course.
