The Junior Women 15-16 was the sixth title race on Saturday at the 2021 USA Cyclocross National Championships.
There were heavy winds in the morning, which meant the title races were postponed and the industry race was canceled.

The damage wasn’t severe, but it was enough to cause the title races to be postponed. The course and venues were both damaged.

2021 USA Cyclocross National Championships Junior Women 15-16
Vida Lopez de San Ramon has gotten used to winning. The 2019 13-14 National Champ only lost three women’s races this season, once to cyclocross pro Katerina Nash in Sacramento and twice to cyclocross pro Caroline Nolan at Surf City.
Lopez de San Ramon also doubled up and raced the Elite Men’s race to start the season with a challenge and gain start points.
The Norcal-based Lopez de San Ramon first grabbed National attention with a silver-medal ride in 2018 after a back-row start and a stunning, custom pint-sized Sycip ride.

In Illinois, two 2018 silver medalists battled each other and the course. Lopez de San Ramon rode to an early lead, but was followed closely by 2018 Cyclocross Nationals silver medalist Lidia Cusak.
Cusak, the road race 2021 National Champion, was content to sit on Lopez de San Ramon’s wheel, and looked to make a pass in the sand, but after the final pass by the pits in the two-lap race, Lopez de San Ramon powered away to secure her final winning margin.
Jorja Bond finished third.
Lopez de San Ramon is the niece of Olympian mountain biker Mary McConneloug.
Cusak can take comfort in knowing her rival will age up next year.
