The 2021 USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships have arrived at Cantigny Park, DuPage County, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.
Early riders report that the course is mostly flat, with short ups and downs, and one bigger climb. There are some “Belgian stairs” that might create another Cody Kaiser moment. There are a few up/down UCI-only features.
There’s a bit of sand and a lot of grass. Initial reactions from Tuesday’s racers include “bumpy” “the most boring course” and “meh” but of course, the potential change in weather later in the week could change everything.
We’re a broken record saying this, but GoPro and other POV cameras don’t do a good job of showing elevation change.
