When Tim Johnson headed south to squeeze in some serious training for his upcoming road season (more on that in our next issue!), he headed to Asheville, North Carolina, home of the 2016 Cyclocross National Championships. The race will be held on the Biltmore Estate, set amongst the 8,000 acres of America’s largest home in the mountains of western North Carolina. Tim was kind enough to snap some photos of the course and the men behind the planning of the 2016 event, already well under way. He also chatted with us at Cyclocross Magazine about his thoughts on the venue and the surrounding area, which he thinks is going to create a perfect backdrop for an amazing Nationals.

“Asheville is pleased to be chosen as the host for the 2016 USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships,” said Ben VanCamp, Asheville-Buncombe Regional Sports Commission senior adviser. “We are looking forward to showcasing our strong and supportive cycling community.”

Stay tuned for Tim’s thoughts on the venue and course potential, as well as some insider info from the promoter, Tim Hopkin (also the promoter for Hendersonville UCI race in North Carolina).
