We’re still digging out from under our pile of photos and videos from Nationals this past week—one of our photographers alone clocked in with 1400 photos just from Sunday’s races! So this week, we’ll be showcasing some of the many stories from the week that we may have missed in our efforts to bring you the most up to date race reporting during the event. Here, we spoke with Ryan Trebon after he took second place in the Elite Men’s race, and he filled us in on his tactics, what worked, and what didn’t.
On his race… I had a good race, and I didn’t feel bad when we were out riding. Sometimes someone is just a little bit faster than you. Jeremy just had a little more pace on a couple of the sections and I was over my limit trying to stay with him and I had to back off a little bit and just ride in.
On the strategy… I started taking risks on some of the technical sections just trying to catch up but I think his fitness is a little bit better than mine.
On Powers’ win… He deserved to win. He had a really great race.”
