Last year, the US Cup-CX made a positive impact on U.S. cyclocross and gave American racers their first series since the USGP folded after the 2012 season.

Earlier this year, Ryan Trebon took over full control of the efforts to bring the series back for a second year. When we talked to Trebon earlier this year, he said he was having trouble finding sponsors to fund the series for the 2018 season. Given the positive reception we saw for the US Cup-CX series in 2017, we admittedly wanted to see his efforts succeed and give U.S. cyclocross a series to focus on this coming season.

Unfortunately, Trebon announced on social media that his efforts were not successful, and he will not be able to put on the US Cup-CX series in 2018.

Full text of Trebon’s social media post:

I’m sorry to announce that I have been unable to find the required funding to run the uscup-cx for 2018. I’m extremely sorry to all the fans, racers, promoters that we will not be able to have a series this year. Thank you to everyone for the support last year.

Stay tuned for more on this story and what it means for U.S. cyclocross this coming season.
