The 2014 and 2015 Canadian Cyclocross Championships were recently awarded to Winnipeg. The local organizing committee recently released a short video that showcases the exciting venue where the event will take place—The Forks. Located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, at the intersection of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers and in the shadow of the architecturally stunning Canadian Museum of Human Rights, the Forks is one of the city’s most popular public gathering spaces. In addition to an onsite hotel and numerous bars and restaurants that will keep racers and spectators comfortable and happy, the venue also promises a good opportunity to expose the weird, wonderful discipline of cyclocross to a wider audience. Almost 10,000 people were on hand for the recent Provincial Cyclocross Championships. Most importantly, it has all the ingredients that make for a classic and interesting cyclocross course.

In keeping with recent tradition, the championship race on Saturday will be followed by a UCI 2 race on Sunday. In 2014, the races will take place on Nov. 1-2, 2014. There are also rumors of an unsanctioned Halloween themed night race to kick things off on Friday night. In other words, there will be plenty of opportunity for American racers to participate.
