On Saturday, gravel riders took to the gravel roads outside Lincoln, Nebraska for the chance to be crowned “Captain of the Gravel Seas” at the 2018 Gravel Worlds p/b Lauf True Grit. Hosted by the Pirate Cycling League, the event offered very on-brand cutlasses to the winners of the Women’s and Men’s races.
Last year, Alison Tetrick (Specialized) snuck by Kae Takeshita (Panaracer/Stan’s NoTubes p/b Bicycle X-Change) to win in a sprint finish in the Fallbrook neighborhood on the north side of Lincoln.
In 2018, Tetrick had a bit more time to enjoy her win after putting down a blistering 19.6 mph average to finish the 150-mile race in 7:39:50. The win was Tetrick’s second-straight at the event.
Amity Gregg (meteor X giordana) of San Francisco turned in a strong ride of her own to finish second in 8:13:03, and Takeshita finished third in 8:26:10.
After the race, Tetrick was visibly pleased with her new booty acquired at the race.
Full results for the Women’s race are below. Stay tuned for a race report and more coverage from Lincoln.
