Saturday’s Elite Women’s race was likely the most anticipated of the weekend for many fans. The Women’s field has been highly competitive the last several years and has delivered captivating racing all season long.

At the Valkenburg-Limburg Worlds, the women did not fail to deliver a good show. The greatest showwomen on Saturday were Sanne Cant (Belgium) and Katie Compton (United States). The two have been had several memorable duels this season and so perhaps it was only fitting the two would lock horns with the rainbow stripes on the line.

Compton led at the bell, but Cant caught Compton in the last lap and pulled away to win her second-straight Worlds title. For Compton, it was the fourth time she finished second.

Kaitie Keough (United States) and Elle Anderson (United States) both also had career-best finishes, with Keough taking sixth and Anderson eighth.
