In an exciting day's worth of racing in Huijberben, Netherlands, new European Cyclocross Champions were crowned.

The Elite Men's race was won by Lars van der Haar (Giant-Alpecin), and was the first time the Elite Men's Championship was awarded. Van der Haar kept the pressure on throughout the race, and was able to force red-hot Wout van Aert (Vastgoedservice-Golden Palace) to make a late-race mistake and earn a solo win.

Sanne Cant (Enertherm-BKCP) repeated her title in the Elite Women's race, followed by VZW Young Telenet Fidea teammates Jolien Verschueren and Nikki Harris.

Take a look at the photo gallery by CXM contributor Bart Hazen to see van der Haar and Cant's history-making wins.
