After Dutchman Ryan Kamp won the Junior Men’s race and Jens Dekker won the Men’s U23 race, Maud Kaptheijns (Crelan-Charles) and Mathieu van der Poel (Beobank Corendon) sought to continue the Dutch mastery in at Telenet Superprestige Ruddervoorde.
Kaptheijns found herself in another thriller with Sanne Cant (Beobank Corendon) heading into the long sand pit near the finish. Cant went into the feature first, but had to dismount near the end. Kaptheijns stayed on her bike and used the momentum out of the sand to grab first and keep it. Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb) sprinted past Cant at the end to take second.
In the Men’s race, Van der Poel attacked at the end of the first lap and did not look back. Wout van Aert (Crelan-Charles) tried to chase him, and again settled for the consolation prize of second. Lars van der Haar (Telenet Fidea Lions) broke away from teammate Toon Aerts (Telenet Fidea Lions) to take third.
