Sunny Gilbert had a day to remember at the 2018 Louisville Cyclocross Nationals.

After a strong season where she won both days at DCCX and finished on a number of podiums, Gilbert started well at Nationals and then came on strong with two to go to run into second place. After a last-lap battle with Ellen Noble, she held on to take silver and smash her previous best finish at Elite Nationals of ninth.

Gilbert came from a background in running and succeeded in the thick Louisville mud thanks in part to her swiftness off the bike. One needs to look no further than Gilbert’s social media handle Run4Funner to see how she embraces the oft-overlooked part of cyclocross. You will have to listen to the interview to find out if Gilbert will be changing her name to Run4Silver in the future.

I chatted with Gilbert last week before she headed off to Europe for Kerstperiode racing. You can listen to my interview with Gilbert via the embed above.
