Canadian Cyclocross Nationals are joining their American brethren in heading west in 2020 and 2021.
Langford, British Columbia, located on Vancouver Island near Victoria, will host the November Championships the next two years, as reported in Canadian Cycling Magazine. British Columbia last hosted Canadian Nationals in 2013, so it has been a few years since the western province has hosted the event.
The event will be hosted by the Victoria International Cycling Festival and race director Jon Watkin.
“This is a special occasion for us as we have been working to bid and host this event for quite some time and, now that we have achieved our objective, we look forward to bringing Nationals back to the West Coast,” Watkin said in a blog post. “Cyclocross is very popular in BC, especially on Vancouver Island, and we hope to use the Nationals as a platform to further elevate the quality and overall experience for participants of all ages and abilities.”
The 2018 and 2019 Canadian Nationals took place in Peterborough, Ontario, and following the event earlier this month, the ceremonial course stake was passed to Watkin to take back to Langford.
