While you wait the six hours until the Sporza live feed of the historic Koppenbergcross starts, you can enjoy some Halloween candy while watching this Koppenberg course recon video by James Spragg at InTheMud.cx.

The Koppenbergcross has a long history. The first race was way back in 1988 (see our feature on the Koppebergcross and Luc and Simon Lamon), and the race has since just missed two years, from 1993 through 1994.

This year’s Koppenbergcross event, the second race of the eight race Bpost Bank Trofee series, will be even more significant than past events. It’s the first major European race, thanks in part to Twenty20 Cycling, to offer the equal prize money for men and women.

Will Helen Wyman repeat her 2013 Koppenbergcross Bpost Bank Trofee win and come home with a big check?

Check out the video below to see what the world’s best will be tackling. It certainly looks a lot different right now from the typical mudfest we see by the time the pro men race, but the video provides an interesting view of the tough, hilly, famous course.
