Cyclocross Tire Review: WTB Cross Wolf Tire Cyclocross Tire Review

Racing and Riding Impressions: WTB has created an aggressive ’cross tire in the Cross Wolf, and the tread excels in rougher conditions found in WTB’s NorCal backyard. The almost continuous center knobs roll smoothly on hardpack and the open spacing sheds mud decently when the December rains finally arrive. Straight line traction was good, and the tall, supported side knobs give great bite in loose or sloppy sections, especially in cornering. The Cross Wolf is a good choice for an all-conditions tire, front or rear. I just wish it had a bit more volume to allow for lower pressures on the bumpy courses. With its great cornering traction and narrower width, I preferred it more as a front tire, with less pressure than I could get by with in the back.
