Just got off the trainer after watching the whole race. How bout Stybar, eh? So glad he's back. Also, I'm sure I'm not alone in noting Sven rocked his disc bike, and was the only guy up front to skip the first pit, which set him up o ride away. Did his bike's extra clearance play into this tactic? If so, if disc bikes allow for fewer pits, the flood gates are going to open!

Have a race bearing your name, in your home town, with a new title sponsor and bike sponsor in attendance and a DNS leaving a sour taste in your mouth for the last year? That means it’s an important day, and you’re likely to be extra motivated to put on a good show, win the day’s race and keep everyone happy. Even if you’re a living legend of cyclocross.
Sven Nys, riding for his new Creland-AA Drink sponsor combo, did just that at today’s bpost Bank Trofee series stop, the Grand Prix of Sven Nys in Baal, Belgium. Affectionately called “The Cannibal from Baal,” Nys, wearing his new sponsor-labeled World Championship jersey, and riding a brand new bike in the form of the Trek Boone (see our profile of Nys’ Trek Boone here), wasted no time in seizing control of the race and making sure fans, media and sponsors had an unobstructed view of his new bike and jersey.
