  • Charm City: Euros Wyman and Field Continue the European UCI Points Grab

Ian Field makes his way around the natural barriers. Cyclocross Magazine

Charm City in Baltimore, Maryland, has been hot and dry for the fast few years, which makes sense since as the second race weekend of the season, it’s still practically summertime. However, in keeping with the streak of bad weather on the East Coast for the past month, the race opened with a chilly, drizzling morning: perfect cyclocross weather. Racers and spectators alike complained about the cooler conditions, since this early in the season, the legwarmers are still buried in attics and basements. However, the cooler weather didn’t seem to hurt the Euro visitors, and Helen Wyman and Ian Field repeated their winning performances from last week at Nittany Lion Cross.

Mark (far left) and the rest of the Rutgers Cycling family on his goodbye ride in July.

I’ve been in Texas now for about two months, and I have a confession to make: I’m a little homesick.

Initially the thrill of being in a new place and meeting new people kept me from thinking too much about it, but as the dust has settled and I have fallen into my daily routine, I have to say: I miss my crew.

  • Nittany Day Two: Euro Podium Invasion; Wyman and Van Den Bosch Take The Wins

Van Den Bosch, Field and Lindine on the podium Day 2 of Nittany Lions Cyclocross.

The first weekend of racing is over, and racers on the East Coast are feeling extremely tired after an incredibly muddy first weekend of cyclocross racing. The normally flat and fast course at Nittany was transformed into a muddy bog, and with the course running backwards on the non-UCI day two of racing, the racers started by almost immediately hitting a mud pit.
