MLADÁ BOLESLAY, CZECH REPUBLIC – British cyclist Helen Wyman (Kona Factory Team) defended her title as the Elite Women’s European Cyclocross Champion today with a solo victory after opening up a gap on the first lap.

Second place in the Elite Women’s race went to the British National Champion, Nikki Harris (Telenet Fidea) who finished 1:11 behind Wyman while French National Champion Lucie Chainel-Lefevre (BH-SR Suntour-KMC) finished third 1:24 off the leader.

In the Men’s U23 race Belgium’s Michael Vanthourenhout (BKCP-Powerplus) managed to outpace Netherlands’ Mathieu van der Poel  (BKCP-Powerplus) for the win. Finishing third was fellow Belgian Gianni Vermeersch (Sunweb – Napoleon Games Cycling Team).

Belgians also reigned supreme in the Junior Men’s race with Belgian Junior National Champion Yannick Peeters taking the top step of the podium followed by the Czech Republic’s Adam Toupalik and France’s Yan Gras.

Netherlands’ Anne Kalvenhaar and Sabrina Stultiëns placed first and second in the Youth Women’s race followed by Alice Maria Arzuffi of Italy.
