One of the annual traditions of Cyclocross Magazine is reflecting back on a year filled with reviewing products and award those that struck us as the best of the best in the realms of cyclocross, gravel and cycling gear. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be releasing all of the awards one day at a time. Be sure to keep checking back to see what products are most worth your hard-earned dollars. Issue 28 also has the Editors’ Awards and the Readers’ Choice awards, so be sure to order your backcopy today, which is also available on Uberflip, in the App Store on iTunes, and on Google Play for Android.

We recently awarded, for the first time in out magazine, a bike in the Best Gravel category, with the Volagi Viaje Ti taking home the first-ever victory. In that same spirit, we have also released the details of the Editors’ Award for Best Gravel Tire: the WTB Nano TCS 40c.

Gravel means different things to different people, but on all but the smoothest graded, glass free surfaces, we think tubeless makes the most sense. Some amount of tread also makes sense. The WTB Nano 40c TCS tubeless tire checks the boxes, and brings you home safely. Too bad they don’t work well with NoTubes rims, but we’ll take what we can get in this new category of tubeless gravel tires.
