By the time Saturday’s Singlespeed races rolled around at Louisville Nationals, the Joe Creason course had more or less turned into an amorphous blob of thick Kentucky mud.

Perfect conditions for the Singlespeed National Championships. A rowdy crowd gathered at the descent into the bowl to watch 34 women and 137 men take the plunge down the slick and treacherous descent.

Although most riders went the full kit route, there were a few costumes to be seen in the fields. Several women went as the Glamorous Women of Singlespeed, adding some flair that quickly got covered up by Kentucky mud.

On the Men’s side, there was, fittingly, Colonel Sanders.

Sarah Sturm (Specialized – TenSpeed Hero) took the win for the Women and Jake Wells (FORM Attainment Studio p/b IRC) made a comeback to win for the Men.

Bill Schieken of CXHairs spent most of the week in the broadcast booth, but he took a little break to do a special edition of #sscx Cyclocross Television on Saturday. As always, give CXHairs a follow on YouTube to make sure you don’t miss any of the Cyclocross Television content.
