For today’s #throwbackthursday, we go back seven years to Mercer Park in New Jersey, the mid-season checkpoint for the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross.

As the video, posted on YouTube by crossvideo08, states, there are several ways to get in the money in cyclocross: Either do well in a single race and get a pay day and/or pick up a big sponsor to aid in your endeavors. But then again, there’s the easier option. Just seek out the money pit.

As this was an Elite level UCI C1 race, with plenty of riders looking to score some extra pocket change, and a few younger fans happy to share their well-earned dollars. Sure, they could have been disqualified, but just like in the races of 2014, there were plenty of riders looking to stay in the money by taking the risk.
