The Belgians might call it the high jump, Americans might call it the bunnyhop, on Wednesday night at the 2020 Rectavit Masters in Waregem, Tom Meeusen proved once again he can fly above language barriers and clear double-high cyclocross barriers.

The Group Hens – Maes Containers rider put on a show for the crowd, defended his 2019 High Jump crown and left Neils Vandeputte (Alpecin Fenix) grounded in wet, slippery conditions.

Enjoy brief highlights thanks to cycling.be below:

Meeusen cleared 75cm, but could not equal his previous record of 80cm, which he shares with Jan Denuwelaere.

“I am very happy that I can win here again”, Meeusen responded after his victory [translated]. “I want to win this discipline every year. I knew in advance that Niels would be a strong competitor, he even practiced some. Eighty centimeters was too much for me today overambitious.”
