Stephen Hyde (Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com) did not have a bad first month and a half of the season, but it certainly was not up to his standards that gave him wins in eight of nine U.S. races after October 1 last season.

Hyde entered the Cincinnati Cyclocross weekend in second place in the US Cup-CX standings, hoping to build on his win on Day 2 of Charm City earlier in the month. That one win turned to three at Devou and Harbin Parks over the weekend, and Hyde is now rolling heading into the US Cup-CX series finale and Pan-American Championships at Joe Creason Park in Louisville this weekend.

Cyclocross Magazine‘s Andrew Yee spoke with Hyde after both of his wins. The defending national champion talked about being sleepless with excitement over the chance to race in the mud on Saturday and offered his thoughts on Gage Hecht’s impressive ride and the US Cup-CX series on Sunday.

Saturday – Devou Park

Sunday – Harbin Park
