Continuing her unbeaten streak in the 2015 Superprestige series, Sanne Cant took to the front of the race early at Superprestige Gavere, and despite the best efforts of VZW Young Telenet Fidea teammates Nikki Harris and Jolien Verschuren, stayed clear for a solo victory.
Ellen van Loy (VZW Young Telenet Fidea) went to the front of the race early, with Cant giving chase. Eventually, Cant’s superior fitness became too much for van Loy, who fell back, leaving Cant solo.
Behind Cant, Verschuren was steadily gaining after a slow start, picking up the fading van Loy, and was eventually bringing Cant’s advantage down to around ten seconds.
In spite of Verschuren’s best efforts, Cant’s power and technical ability was too much to overcome. Cant rode a technically-perfect race on the hilly and slick Gavere course and was able to hold off the hard-charging Verschuren for the win.
Moving up consistently throughout the race, Harris overtook van Loy late in the race to round out the final podium position, leading to three VZW Young Telenet Fidea riders in the top five.
