Northeast Velodrome and Cycling Park Reopens for 2011 Season, Continues Clinics – May & June 2011 Clinic dates added

The Palter Company, Inc. is proud to announce its continued operation of the Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park, featuring the Northeast Velodrome, a USA Cycling Sanctioned Track, and the Northeast BMX Track, an NBL Sanctioned Race Track.

New England has one of the largest cycling communities in the country, with more bike shops and licensed riders per capita than even California.  Several of the industry’s leading manufacturers are here as well including: Mavic, Parlee, Independent Fabrications, Seven Cycles, Craft, Pedros and Kryptonite Locks. And now the area has a Velodrome and Cycling Park that includes a Velodrome, BMX track, and cyclocross course.

In order to take track cycling to the magnitude it once was, The Palter Company, Inc., which also owns the Cycle Loft and Local BMX Co. in Burlington, MA, will operate the Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park in Londonderry, NH for the 2011 Cycling Season. Improvements continue for 2011 to the facility, making it more hospitable for riders and spectators.

Due to popular demand, the Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park will continue to offer its popular “Try the Track” clinic twice during the 2011 Season.

The goal of the Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park is to enhance existent training and development programs, and to foster more competitive racing, from Juniors and Women, to Masters and Elites.  Through more in-depth coaching and better events, the Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park will provide safer yet more competitive competition.

For riders who have never tried track cycling, there is no better time than now.  The Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park, in Londonderry, NH will hold an intensive 2-part USA Cycling “Try the Track: An Introduction to Track Cycling.”

The Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park will be offering these clinics that provide a thorough course on Track Cycling, as well as on the bike coaching, all culminating in some basic racing.

This two-part clinic will provide a thorough course on Track Cycling, as well as on the bike coaching, all culminating in some basic racing. The goal of the clinic is to provide consistent information and material used at many of the country’s leading tracks to form an entry point for the budding track racer. The clinic is open to anyone, and one-day licenses will be available to anyone who is not a licensed USAC (USA Cycling) rider.  There are 30 brand new track bikes available for use if riders do not have their own bike; sizes and space is limited in the clinic, therefore it’s important to register early. Bikes will be reserved on a first come first served basis. The clinic will be divided into two parts. A classroom session on Friday May 13th and June 10th, will cover Track Bikes, Track Protocol and the Track racing surface itself.

The second part of the clinic on Saturday May 144h and June 11th will be an on-the-bike format during which riders will learn the nuances of the fixed gear bike, the subtleties of the track, riding in a group, and then racing.  The clinic will be coached by USA Cycling Certified Coach, Kurt Begemann.

All new riders who attend and complete BOTH parts of the clinic will be eligible for their Category 5 to category 4 Track Upgrade, and will be ready to race in USAC sanctioned events.

There are many riders who already have their category 4 licenses, who could still benefit from this clinic as gear choice, pedaling cadence and other helpful riding tips will be covered. For any category 4 or higher rider, this clinic will count as one race day towards their 5 needed for their next upgrade.
