It’s Footgear Friday today, as we take a look at some of the new kicks recently released by cycling shoe companies. While we already previewed the top-of-the-line Sidi Tiger, today we’ve got looks at new cyclocross-worthy shoes from Lake, Garneau and Scott. First up this morning is Lake Cycling.

Everyone Is Cinderella with the Lake MX241 Endurance

Lake Cycling has been making cycling shoes for over 35 years and the brand’s reputation for quality shoes, especially for extreme weather conditions, is well-known. While we’ve previously covered the company’s MX332 Super Cross shoe and MX237 gravel-oriented shoes at Magura Camp and at Sea Otter 2016, at the recent Sea Otter Classic, we got an up-close look at Lake’s latest offering, the MX241 Endurance, a shoe that falls between the top-shelf MX332 and the MX237.

The MX241 Endurance is labeled by the company “the world’s most adjustable shoe.” With two available widths, two BOA IP1 dials and a moldable heel cup, the MX241 was designed to be highly adjustable by the rider to really dial in the fit—all but eliminating heel slip, pressure points or low-volume feet swimming in the shoe with the enclosure bottomed out.

While many shoes offer two Boa dials, the MX241 uses abrasion-resistant Helcor leather and a mesh structure under the dials to eliminate pressure points.

The heel cup is heat moldable for a custom fit. Five minutes at 200 degrees is all you need to soften it up.

Natural rubber is used for the sole and toe guard, with carbon to keep things stiff. Toe spikes are optional, but unlike the MX332 there are no big metal cleats.

The MX241 Endurance from Lake Cycling is available in two colors (black and blue/gold) with a retail price of $350.

The shoe should be available this summer before cyclocross season. Stay tuned as we hope to compare the MX241 and MX332 Super Cross.
