Junior Men Results: 2020 Cyclocross World Championships, Dübendorf Switzerland

DÜBENDORF, Switzerland— After a disappointing first day in Dübendorf, Belgium finally made its mark on the 2020 World Championships.

American Magnus Sheffield roared off the line from a second-row start to take control of much of the first lap.

Thibau Nys (BEL), eventually squeezed by Sheffield on a descent, and then never left the front group.

Nys escaped the rest to go solo for the final two laps to cap off an impressive season that included the European Champs, Belgian Champs and overall World Cup. He can now add a rainbow jersey and the title of World Champion to the season’s haul.

Nys’ teammate Lennart Belmans (BEL) took silver. Emiel Verstrynge (BEL) escaped Swiss hope Dario Lillo after Lillo crashed on the last lap to make all-Belgian podium.
