Tire Review: IRD CrossFire Cyclocross Tire Review

Racing and Riding Impressions: Tired of black tires? How about red, blue, or pink? That might be enough of a selling point for some. But rest assured, this miniaturized version of Panaracer’s Fire XC-Pro tire isn’t just designed to look pretty. The versatile tread grips hardpack, soft dirt and loose surfaces with aplomb under pedaling loads, braking, or cornering. On grass, the tread was a bit overkill but gives a predictability and confidence that will be appreciated by all but the best bike handlers. The only complaint is that I wish it was a bit wider and lighter. Its relatively narrow width prevents it from being our top choice for riding the trails, but given our experience with the fat tire brother, this should be a very durable tire.
