We’re still digging out from under our pile of photos and videos from Nationals this past week—one of our photographers alone clocked in with 1400 photos just from Sunday’s races! So this week, we’ll be showcasing some of the many stories from the week that we may have missed in our efforts to bring you the most up to date race reporting during the event.  For our coverage during the week, check out our 2014 Cyclocross National Championship Page here.

Here, we chatted with ’cross and road racer Danny Summerhill, who took seventh in Elite Cyclocross Nationals on Sunday.

On his result… I’ve been more pleased with other results, let’s put it that way. But racing here in front of a hometown crowd is always a pretty phenomenal feeling. I just wish I could have pulled more of a result out for all the people cheering for me, but that’s racing. Everyone has their race, and I just don’t think today was my day.”

On the amount of racing this season…  I did all the big, what used to be USGP races. I made sure I was at all those and a couple of others. Pretty standard season I’ve always had, not too big, not too small.”

On starting road season… Tomorrow it’s back to base miles.

On his sponsorships… I’ve always been a one-man show. This time it’s just more professional-looking because I have a manager to make it happen.

On continuing to race cross in spite of road commitments… I won’t totally disappear. I can’t disappear from my roots.
