BTB TV Presents headed to Louisville, Kentucky, for The Mudfund Derby City Cup, two days of racing on the site of the 2013 UCI Cyclocross World Championships. Big points were on offer in the USA Cycling Pro Cyclo-cross Calendar with Saturday’s category 1 event representing triple points in the overall competition. With long stretches of challenging sand, railroad ties, stone steps and plenty of elevation change, the racing in Louisville was some of the best the country has ever seen. The racing was tight, toughly contested, and on more than one occasion, came down to a heads-up sprint for victory.

Before we dive into the racing, check out this week’s Clif Shot Course Preview where Team Clif Bar’s Brady Kappius takes you on a lap of the course at Eva Bandman Park, one that hasn’t changed much since February’s World Championships.

This week on BTB TV Presents: The Mudfund Derby City Cup, we sit down with Tim Johnson, head of The Mudfund to talk about the organization’s goals and mission to help improve the landscape for emerging junior and U23 talent in the United States. The Mudfund played a huge role in ensuring the continued success of the event as well as the continued growth of young American racers. The Mudfund Derby City Cup attracted nearly 200 junior racers over the two days of racing, as well as hosted a hugely successful clinic that helped those young riders learn some of the basic techniques of cyclocross.
