LEM Helmets MotivAir

We first saw LEM helmets entry into the North American market at Sea Otter this year. Though we saw a prototype of the new MotivAir carbon shell helmet, we had limited information. The LEM MotivAir has been released just in time to be a nice holiday gift for the cyclist in your life.

We are impressed so far with its somewhat unique look and the light claimed weight of 220 grams (our size M sample acutal 254 grams) for a size M. For comparison, a Giro Synthe MIPS is 272 grams (actual).

LEM’s exoCarbon technology is a combination of the carbon shell with low-density EPS foam. The advantage is light weight, oblique impact management and excellent ventilation.

Fit is excellent for the few size M heads who tried it so far. The helmet is easy to adjust and offers good head coverage without conflicting with sunglasses or upgaze (while riding in the drops). The $225 MSRP is in line with other high-end helmets, and since it just hit the market, there certainly is a bit of exclusivity for now.
